I completely agree to the conclusions you've made, it is all about the choices. Some people, like my girlfriend, she prefers book-reader coz she don't want a fancy stuff, she just want to read the book on the go. Me on the other hand, as a blogger I need to check my twitter accounts, blogs, news, post some stuff, read news, besides just reading books, also when I travel I don't like to take heavy Mac with me, so I am taking iPad and I found it very convenient.

Here's a tip! If you change the Kindle screen orientation to Landscape, you can zoom in and still see the whole page.
Thank you for the thoughtful review. I own them both as well and I agree that the Kindle DX is a lot easier on the eyes. Perhaps it's because I'm no longer 20, but I can't look at the iPad for too long.

My husband got a Kindle as an employee of the month award when they first came out. At first, we were pretty excited and wanted to use it all of the time. But fairly suddenly, and without reason, we just stopped caring. Never really touched it again. We loaned it to a family member that desperately wanted a Kindle and again, it was barely touched.

I got the iPad (w/o 3G) last year. Almost a year later, its still frequently used. Not only for watching Netflix, games, entertaining my 3yo niece, internet and using it in the kitchen as my cookbook, but also for most of my reading. I like it better than the Kindle because I typically read at night. You can turn the brightness down or change the screen colors, so I have no problems with brightness or eye strain. Its also nice to read on long car trips at night while he's driving. The brightness doesn't bother him like a spot light does. And if I get bored or finish a book, I can easily switch to a crossword puzzle without having to search for one in the car.

iPad was the easy winner for us. It does so much more and you can keep it fresh and interesting with more apps. But again, we use it for more than an ereader. Perhaps the Kindles have come leaps and bounds since the first gens, but we now have no reason to go out and buy one to find out.

I don't own both of them, not because they aren't great reading device, but because I found a better device: printing them on a good laser printer with cheap toner. Try Borther HL-2140. Cost about $110, and the toner replacement is (twinpack) $28 for 5200 page, or about 1.2cent/page. For a 200 pg book on 2pg/side duplex, that'll cost less than a dollar per book!

The text resolution is unmatched by any ereaders in the world. On most book, printing 4 pages/side is still legible on my eyes.

It goes well also with my workflow: reading everywhere. I can bring a bunch of papers that I'm planning to read for the day, fold them inside my jacket. I can read it anywhere without fearing somebody will steal it or drop it. If I loose it, simply reprint it again. You can print only the part that interest you, that will save you more money and less waste and easier to carry.

Finally, the best feature is, you can doodle on the paper, highlight it, create notes and pointers, helping you further absorbing the materials and makes rereading experience much better.
