About this item
- Superior Support for Your Body: PostureFit properly supports the base of your spine, or sacral region, to help your pelvis maintain a natural forward tilt, thus keeping your spine fully aligned
- Moves with You, Naturally: Patented Kinemat tilt mimics the body’s natural pivot points—the hips, knees, and ankles—so the chair works with, not against, your body, and you recline fluidly
- Conforms to Your Shape: It conforms to each person who sits in the chair, and distributes weight evenly, eliminating pressure points and heat buildup
- Designed to last a long time, and parts that get the most wear are easily replaced and recycled
- Distinctive, Sophisticated Look: A selection of sophisticated materials and a choice of three Pellicle weave patterns make the chair well-suited to a variety of tastes and surroundings

((((( This now has a potentially good workaround, thanks to the tip from D. R. Turgeon in his reply to my review )))))
The chair has developed quite a LOUD creak whenever it is reclined, which is always. From such a (supposedly) well-manufactured chair, and for such a high price, one would expect it to have defects like that worked out of the manufacturing process. The chair is still comfortable and ergonomic, and that's paramount, but the loud creaking sound grates on me, so I knocked my score down by 1 star.
((((( I have bumped my score back up to 5 )))))
----------
I was first turned on to the Herman Miller brand at work, although I didn't know it until I did some homework. Once I figured it out, I began searching for the same model for use at home. This particular model is the next generation above what I have at work, and they've made good improvements.
What I like:
* I love the mesh seat and back. It is so comfortable to sit in for 8, 9, or more hours per day as an office drone.
* These chairs are very adjustable
* I love to sit in a reclined position when I use the computer (hint, you're supposed to), and it provides a lot of adjustment to the tension to be as loose or as "springy" as you need it to support your weight. I've had too many chairs that actually aren't loose enough for me, making it impossible to stay reclined without me pushing against it, which defeats the purpose. The Aeron chair gets loose enough that I can recline and stay in a suspended state without requiring any extra force on my part.
* The arms are adjustable to the right height. Too many chairs on the market limit the height, and many, surprisingly, don't go low enough.
* The lumbar support? Meh. I'm not a big fan. I think one hurts more than it helps. I like that I can just release the lumbar on this chair quick & easy, but someone else could tension it up quickly if they want it.
Improvements from the model I have at work:
* The arm height adjustment is definitely better. The arms still adjust on a loose track, but the locking mechanism improved. On the old model, you had to tighten a turn-screw-like knob, and me constantly putting my weight down on it causes it to slowly lower over time. In the new model, there's a clamp-down locking mechanism that not only keeps it securely in place, but doesn't require a lot of force to screw it tight.
* The lumbar support in the new model is adjustable from none to tight with a very easy to turn knob. In the old model, there's a big rubber pad on a track. In the old model, I just removed the rubber pad.
Any nitpicks? Yes, just one, and probably just minor:
* To get the control cable through the mesh of the chair back and into the lumbar support required quite a lot of "persuasion" as they say, and I might have snapped a thread or 2 in the mesh to finally get it through. In a future model, I would expect Herman Miller to spring for the extra 0.02 cents in bulk cost to install a grommet in the fabric, so the user doesn't have to thread a 5mm object through a 1mm opening.
I decided to do some research and spend some money on a good chair for comfort and quality/longevity reasons. After much research and consideration I decided on the Herman Miller Aeron as I knew they set the bar and used to have one at a previous company.
I could not be happier and more comfortable with this chair and wish I would have spent the money years ago. I can work 10+hrs a day with zero fatigue or discomfort. It is highly adjustable and I recommend really playing with it over the course of a few days or weeks to get it to a personal sweet spot.
The chair isn't cheap at least in my book although some chairs cost much more but dollar for dollar the quality and comfort of this chair can't be beat. It comes with a decent warranty and all parts are replaceable. It is also easy to put together when it arrives.
Even after owning this chair for some time, it looks and feels brand new. Its sleek and looks professional in my office and I have never had a problem with it. Instead of buying new chairs every couple years I believe this is at least a 10 year chair and will probably even last longer. That in my mind makes it a good investment.
I am on the big and tall side and the large Herman Miller Aeron fits me perfectly. It's been worth every penney and I highly recommend it. Last note, amazon had this chair listed for the lowest price I could find.
Build quality is actually amazing, really robust, very heavy duty mechanic parts and looks quite cool. Posture fit accessory actually works, my back never bothered me in this chair. HOWEVER, after sitting for a week, I have slowly started to develop serious neck and shoulder pain. I have tried all possible combinations of chair settings and table height, but it was getting worse and worse. And I've decided to send it back. I feel that the problem that the adjustable arms are too low for me, even in the highest position. Also this chair does not really give you much freedom to move, you are stuck in a very specific posture, though this posture did good for my back.
I am 6'5", 240 lb and ordered C sized chair. So if you are of my size, this chair probably would not work for you.
